Where Money Goes is an interactive map of the world economy. Start from about $118 trillion of global GDP, then click to zoom into household consumption, recreation, direct digital spending, in-app purchases, mobile game publishers and, finally, individual games such as Honor of Kings or Royal Match.
Every slice shows its size, its share of the level above and its source. Orange dashed views — digital advertising, e-commerce GMV and platform fees — are shown for context but are not additive with GDP, because they would double count spending that is already included elsewhere.
Global GDP is about $118.5T in nominal US dollars for 2025 (IMF World Economic Outlook, October 2026). By expenditure, household consumption is $66.69T (56.3%), gross capital formation $30.98T (26.1%) and government consumption $19.68T (16.6%).
Households spend about $66.69T a year, 56.3% of world GDP. The largest categories are housing and utilities ($14.5T), food and non-alcoholic beverages ($10T) and transportation ($7.8T). About $7.5T of that is imputed rent — the rent homeowners notionally pay themselves, which national accounts count as consumption.
Players spent about $81.8B on mobile game in-app purchases through the App Store and Google Play in 2025 (Sensor Tower), 49.0% of all in-app spending ($167B). Tencent is the largest publisher at about $10.5B, and Honor of Kings alone earns about $2.4B — roughly 0.002% of world GDP.
The biggest builders spent about $462B on capital projects in 2025 (company totals, which include some non-AI investment), counted as part of gross capital formation. The largest spenders are Amazon ($132B), Google ($91.4B) and Microsoft ($64.6B).
The major platforms reported about $817B of ad revenue in 2025 (gross, as booked in their annual reports), led by Google ($295B) and Meta ($196B). It is shown as a side view rather than a slice of GDP: advertising is a business cost already embedded in the prices households pay, so adding it to consumption would count the same dollars twice.
About $2.89T (based on SIPRI), roughly 2.44% of world GDP. In expenditure-based GDP it is part of government consumption.
Top-level figures come from the IMF, the World Bank and SIPRI. Many company- and product-level figures are order-of-magnitude estimates based on annual reports and industry research, and are labeled “Est.” in the chart. Mobile game figures cover iOS and Google Play only, excluding third-party Android stores in China.
